Support the Wages and Opportunity to Work for Individuals with the Most Significant Disabilities
Help Beacon Group make a difference in the lives of workers with disabilities.
Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act has helped Beacon Group create thousands of employment opportunities for people with disabilities. By following rigid Department of Labor guidelines established to protect workers with disabilities, the 14 (c) certificate allowed Beacon Group to compensate employees based on the worker’s individual productivity, no matter how limited, in proportion to the wage and productivity of experienced workers who do not have disabilities performing essentially the same type, quality, and quantity of work. Many of the workers in this program have significant developmental disabilities.
At Beacon Group, the average productivity rate of workers earning commensurate wages is roughly 20% when compared to workers without disabilities. Allowing Beacon to pay qualified workers a commensurate wage has ensured the availability of job opportunities for these individuals that otherwise would scarcely exist.
We need your help! Beacon is committed to providing meaningful employment opportunities to these individuals with the most significant disabilities. As Beacon transitions away from the use of 14(c), we are developing a Vision for Opportunity Fund with the hope that donations can help support higher wages (minimum wage or above) and minimize the potential reduction in employment opportunities for the people with disabilities we serve.
Every worker deserves a paycheck and you can invest in the choice to work for people with disabilities. 100% of your donation will directly support the paycheck of a person with disabilities in the Vision for Opportunity program.
